Battle of the bands
Mood:  not sure
The Battle of the bands... what draws us to a thing such as this? As a musician is it to see if we are the best, or is it to see how we can improve? As a musician I can't honestly say I'm going into this saying "I don't care if we win or lose", that's just not human nature. Human nature is to win, to be the best, to be on top...but is that the way it should be? I pose this question not for answers from anyone on the void of the world wide web. I pose this question for answers from myself...or from something bigger than myself. As a songwriter I want to be heard. I have something to say and on a stage behind a guitar is where I have chosen to say it. But as a songwriter shouldn't I be listening more intently to the one who wrote my song? Do we get so caught up in this gift that God has given us that we forget the God who gave it to us?
Music is how I communicate with God. I write a song, it's a conversation with my savior. When I'm performing it's a conversation with my savior at the highest level possible for me. It brings me closer to my God.
Music also brings me closer to others. Andy will be joining us on stage for the first time in over a year. Because of music we have been brought together to have a conversation with God together. The same goes for Bryan as he produces our new album. Every time we record he is joining in the upward communication. It's an amazing thing when we get down to it. Music was created by God to glorify him, through that music (that he created) he draws us into his presence and into the presence of others. Take music festivals for example. The summer is covered with them. Whether they be secular or Christian they are still doing what music was created to do draw us together.
I say all this not to give any answers but to make us look more closely at what we have here. It's an amazing gift that we are blessed to take part in. Think about that the next time you are standing in a crowd of people jamming to the same groove...
